It has been great summer at Dorchester's Cheriton Care Home, with more visitors, activities and enjoying time out and about.

Warmer weather, with the easing of Covid restrictions has meant ice creams in the garden and in the town, trips out, family and friends over - and just a busy social life.

Residents are lucky to have a beautiful, big garden at Cheriton, where they have been able to sit and watch nature, read a book, feed the birds, join in with some gardening and keep an eye on one very special resident - Trott the tortoise.

It has also been jam-packed with birthdays, celebrations, Wimbledon, Euro 2020 and Tokyo Olympics.

Denise Chrippes, Cheriton's registered manager, and the team have been busy welcome lots of new residents, with the care home almost full and rooms going very quickly. They have welcomed many more to the family at Cheriton care home, which is now home to around 70 residents.

Denise said: "We're passionate about social interaction, activities and visits because they're a vital part of making sure all our residents feel happy, cared for and part of a real home from home community.

"Our gardens have come into their own, with lots of space for activities but also quiet, more secluded areas for residents to relax and enjoy being outdoors, or spend time with loved ones.

"It has been lovely to welcome more and more visitors into the home and our residents have been out and about exploring the local area too."

But it doesn't stop there as the team will ensure the social calendar continues into the autumn months too.

Cheriton Care Home, which is operated by family-run independent care provider Agincare, continues to follow government Covid guidance and regulations.

The home is rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission.
