Under the spotlight: The Horse With The Red Umbrella

The Horse With The Red Umbrella has been going for more than 50 years in Dorchester, so we thought it time to visit to try out what it had to offer.

We popped in for a pre-lunch snack so ordered ours to go, but you can sit in and enjoy a meal.

As soon as we entered the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly.

We ordered two sausage rolls, which they offered to warm up - slightly or hot - which we took advantage of, and a large slice of the Dorset apple cake.

The sausage roll was delicious - even better warm - and I just about managed to get home before heating up the apple cake and enjoying it with cream. It was delicious, just how an apple cake should be - sugar topped and no fuss with just apple in the filling.

There was a large selection of cakes and treats on offer that it was hard to choose. The eclairs looked delicious and we will be back for some flapjack.
