Volunteers have been doing an amazing job throughout vaccination clinics at The Atrium Health Centre in Dorchester - from guiding people to the centre, helping them before and after they get their vaccine and the reserve volunteers on hand to jump in at a moment's notice.
Mike Watson was due to volunteer as a car park marshal on Friday from 8am to 10pm, however, he unfortunately twisted his knee and had to cancel his commitment.
He said: "I posted on the Vax Vols WhatsApp group the fact that I needed to cancel my commitment. Within the same minute someone else had volunteered to take my session. Keith - the organiser - had thanked her, wished me 'get well soon' and moved on to his next challenge.
"What a brilliant microcosm of the whole vax business. Superb organisation from Keith and his team - I think he must have his phone surgically attached to his body - and wonderful support from the army of more than 700 volunteers, and this is just Dorchester. This must be reproduced across the whole of the UK, so this is my big 'well done' to all concerned."
A massive 'thank you' to everyone taking part and helping make these vaccination clinics happen!
