Cheriton Care Home in Dorchester is looking forward to a visit from the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus on Thursday, August 31 from 10am to 4pm - a unique experience of what life can be like for people living with dementia.
The experience offered from training company Train 2 Care involves specialist equipment which changes how participants use their senses, including sight and hearing, to simulate how people living with dementia may perceive the world around them.
Each year, more than 200,000 people experience the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus from across a wide sector of industries, including care settings, emergency services, colleges and universities and NHS trusts.
The team at Cheriton Care Home are committed to enhancing the quality of life for people living with dementia by providing specialist care services.
All team members receive comprehensive training from Agincare's skills and training partner, Training Now, through a combination of practical hands-on workshops, professional qualifications and E-Learning modules.
Cheriton Care Home Registered Manager Helen Persey, said: "The Virtual Dementia Tour Bus is the perfect opportunity for my care team to refresh their understanding of what life can be like for those living with dementia, but also to raise dementia awareness in the Dorchester community.
"It is so vitally important that more people understand what dementia is and our aware of what support there is for people living with dementia, as well for their families and loved ones.
"We'd like to take the opportunity to invite local people to experience the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus - places are free and open to all. Please give me a call on 01305 232821 to book your slot."

Agincare also runs a Dementia Champions programme, where nominated individuals advise care workers across the organisation in best-practise for person-centred dementia care.
