Schools across the West Dorset constituency will receive record funding of £83,412,652 for 2024/25 through the government's National Funding Formula.

The funding comes as part of a total share of £60 billion for schools across England – the highest ever level of funding in real terms per pupil.

West Dorset MP Chris Loder has welcomed the announcement.

He said: "This is fantastic news by Department for Education, which will see schools in West Dorset receiving at least £4,600 per primary school pupil, and at least £6,000 per secondary school pupil.

"This vital investment can be used for staff salaries, school trips and classroom equipment.

"I recently wrote to all primary school headteachers in West Dorset asking for their views on the National Funding Formula, as I was concerned about a funding disparity between urban and rural areas. As such, I shared headteachers' feedback directly with the Schools Minister."
