Sunday: Beating of the Bounds

Join in with this fun Dorchester Walking Festival finale on Sunday, May 21 at 4pm 4pm, meeting at the Roman Town House, Dorchester.

The Beating of the Bounds is an ancient tradition in which congregations would walk around the boundaries of each parish on Ascension Day, noting any changes. It was a time to bless the crops and the farmers who work the land.

Bring pots and pans, drums, rattles and other noisy implements to mark the occasion and be prepared for some surprises along the way.
