Friday: Mike Denham and the Sunset Cafe Stompers

Described recently by Just Jazz magazine as “one of the best bands of its kind in the land”, the Stompers are a six-piece outfit playing music of the New Orleans dance halls a century ago, and of the early great jazz band leaders including Jelly Roll Morton and Duke Ellington.

Led by popular local pianist Mike Denham, the band has a national reputation and their last appearance for Dorchester Arts was a sell-out. They will be playing again at Dorchester Corn Exchange on Friday, April 14.

Saturday: Table Top Sale

A table top sale will be held in the Jubilee Hall, Poundbury (next to Waitrose in Queen Mother Square), from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday, April 15.

Grab yourself some great used items and other bargains for sale with more than 20 stalls. Entrance 50p, Children go free.

Saturday: Roman Town House Guided Tours

Discovered in the 1930s, one of the best examples of a Roman Town House in England is situated here in Dorchester.

Following the extensive refurbishment of the covered Roman Town House structure and grounds, Dorset Museum is proud to have partnered with Dorset Council to offer the opportunity of a guided tour of the covered structure and grounds, available to book on Saturday, April 15 between 10am and 12noon.
