Friday: Free Coffee Morning
Why not come along for an opportunity to meet up with other local people and enjoy a chat and a cup of tea or coffee? Everyone is welcome from in and around Dorchester to drop by at anytime between 10am and 12noon at Inspirations in Poundbury Business Centre.
Friday: A Folk Song Walk
Join Dorset-born folk singer Alastair Simpson for a walk around the fields and tracks north of Dorchester, and along the way hear traditional folk songs from the county and further afield.
Many folk songs belong in the outdoors, especially when they tell stories of the people who live and work there. Alastair is becoming known for his unaccompanied singing of traditional and modern folk songs, and is a lover of the Dorset countryside and nature which inhabits it.
These popular walks take in some beautiful scenery, and bring an opportunity to learn something of countryside ways, as well as meeting with the past to hear these old songs.
Saturday & Sunday: Dorset County Show
Dorset County Show will be held jus outside Dorchester this weekend, and looks set to be jam-packed with a host of exciting new attractions as well as new layout to help make the visitor experience even more enjoyable.
New attractions include the world's largest monster trucks revving in with spectacular car-crushing stunts. There's also the Dorset Axemen who will be thrilling crowds with their fast and furious wood cutting demonstrations in the new woodland area.
Mounted pony club games and Shetland pony racing feature for the first time in the new Hill Top Ring. In the new Heavy Horse Village, visitors will be treated to demonstrations enjoying a chance to get up close with beautiful shires.
If heritage crafts are your hobby, you won't want to miss the new Crafters' Avenue featuring displays of weaving, hurdling and more from Dorset's finest craftspeople.
A huge new Food and Drink Area will boast the best of British with a particular focus on Dorset produce. You won't go hungry! There's plenty of new picnic areas and pitstops plus live music and a funfair.
Sunday: Summer Sessions
‘Velvet Voice’ Tony Lowe returns to his home county this summer for a series of Swing Concerts, and is thrilled to have been invited back to perform at the Dorchester Borough Gardens at 2pm on Sunday, September 3.
