Starting this Saturday: Dorchester Walking Festival

From nature walks to brewery tours, the nine-day Dorchester Walking Festival coming up this week will offer something for everyone.

The festival will take place from Saturday, May 13 to Sunday, May 21 during National Walking Month. The programme offers 50 guided walks to choose from – a mixture of long and short walks and activities for all abilities and interests.

Saturday: Tom Browns Duck Race & Fun Day

The Tom Browns pub in Dorchester will host its biggest day of the year, with a duck race and fun day, with live music, barbecue and game, kicking off at 12noon on Saturday, May 13. This event will raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer CLIC Sargent.

Sunday: Hardy Half Marathon

This new running race is a joint venture between Dorchester RIOT running club, Dorchester Lions, Dorchester Rugby Football Club and Dorchester Casterbridge Rotary Club. All the money raised will go to local charities and the main charity partner, Farming Community Network. 

The race will start from Dorchester Rugby Club at 10am on Sunday, May 14.

Sunday: Poundbury Independent Market

The Poundbury Independent returns on Sunday 14th May!

Discover 100 fabulous local makers, bakers, and producers at this lovely street market. Stalls will be winding their way through the streets of Poundbury, from inside Jubilee Hall, across Queen Mother Square, through the park, inside the Quiet Space and on the streets outside Bonjour Cafe.

Follow the market trail to find an incredible range of food, crafts, makes, bakes, and local produce.
