The town's wonderful local businesses have been praised and recognised.

Dorchester and Poundbury Business Awards took place at Dorset Museum yesterday, with actor, writer and TV producer Lord Julian Fellowes having the honour of presenting the awards.

There were more than 240 entries into this year's awards, which are run by Marketing West.

Nigel Reeve, of Marketing West, said: "Entries and nominations totalled 243 which shows the level of support the awards received. We had close to 70 local business leaders at the awards ceremony at the Dorset Museum, while viewings to the streaming are expected to be well over 300.

"These are grassroots business awards championing local businesses and you could feel the positivity and determination in the room. Also, thanks to the awards sponsors and of course Lord Fellowes for giving his time and support to the awards."
