Could you be a young ambassador?
Could you be a young ambassador?

DORSET Council is looking for more young people to become Dorset Council Young Ambassadors – to act as the voice of young people in Dorset and to help us improve and shape the services we offer to children, young people, and families.

The role of a Young Ambassador involves sitting on our young person interview panel, where you will play a key part in the recruitment process for roles within Dorset Council's Children's Services.

You will be invited to present the views of young people to decision makers at meetings, input into documents, plans and proposals, and to write documents from the perspective of a young person living in Dorset.

To be a Dorset Council Young Ambassador, you must:

  • live in the Dorset Council area
  • be aged between 11-18, or aged up to 25 for care leavers, or those with a special educational need or disability

What you get in exchange for your time:

Depending on the activities you undertake, and the time spent working with us, you will receive:

  • vouchers from a place of your choice as a thank you for your time
  • training opportunities
  • the opportunity to achieve a Dorset Award
  • a reference for your CV
  • a chance to work with and influence decision makers

Cllr Clare Sutton, Dorset Council Cabinet Member for Children, Education and Skills, said; As a Young Ambassador you will make a real difference and help us shape the support and services we provide for Dorset's children and families.

"Feedback from the young person interview panel plays an integral role in our employee recruitment in Children's services for a variety of roles, including those at a senior level. The feedback from some of our successful candidates has been that it was the young person panel that really put them under pressure.

"The voices of young people living in Dorset are incredibly important to us, and we'd love for many more of Dorset's young people to get involved."
