Hapless author, Charles Condomine and his second wife, Ruth, host a seance with their friends, the Bradmans and 'happy medium' Madam Arcati, to find inspiration for Charles' latest book. Unwittingly, they conjure up the ghost of clever and manipulative Elvira, Charles' first wife, who can only be seen and heard by Charles. Mayhem ensues while Elivira wreaks havoc - she wants Charles all to herself and she will do pretty much anything to get him…
