Over five decades of performance and recording, Peter Phillips and The Tallis Scholars have done more than any other group to establish sacred vocal music of the Renaissance as one of the great repertoires of Western classical music.

The 500th anniversary of Palestrina's birth is the perfect opportunity to celebrate this most consummate of renaissance composers and his influence on some of the greatest names from later centuries – among them Handel, Beethoven and J S Bach.

The Tallis Scholars showcase an outstanding mass setting from Palestrina's 107 as well as several of his greatest motets. The programme is made even more fascinating by the inclusion of works by one of his peers from the modern era, Arvo Pärt.
