Sculpture by the Lakes has been named a finalist on two South West Tourism Awards categories.

This follows the four awards the sculpture park won at the Dorset Tourism Awards earlier this year. This included three silver awards for small visitor attraction of the year, tourism event/festival of the year and the tourism innovation award, as well as bronze for ethical, responsible and sustainable tourism.

It is now a finalist in small visitor attraction of the year and in tourism event/festival of the year for its Dorset Arts Festival 2020.

Simon Gudgeon of Sculpture by the Lakes, said: "We're absolutely delighted to be named finalists in two of the South West Tourism Awards.

"It's good to see so many companies in the tourism sector being recognised in such prestigious awards.

"We're keeping our fingers crossed to win an award or two, like we did in the Dorset Tourism Awards where we won three silvers and bronze."

The awards will be presented online on April 22, with a prior 'meet the finalist' event on April 13, when finalists and sponsors of the South West Tourism Awards get the chance to share their news and plans.

Up to five finalists have been announced in each category, but all will have to wait until April 22 to learn whether they have won gold, silver or bronze.

Robin Barker, director of services for Tourism Ltd, which manages the awards, said: "We so nearly cancelled this year's awards but are so glad we continued.

"The reaction from businesses, the stories they've told, and the innovation and inspiration we've witnesses amongst hundreds of small businesses has been humbling.

"We're so pleased to be able to play our part in supporting such a deserving and important sector."
