Dorchester Police have issued a warning and an appeal after a male trespassed onto a field and chased cattle.

PCSO Donnison was alerted to reports of a male running around a field containing bulls, cows and their calves in a field near Crossways village hall on Wednesday at around 7.30pm.

It was reported that he entered the field and chased the cattle. Another male was watching from the other side of the fence.

A spokesman for Dorchester Police said: "This is an extremely dangerous act anytime but especially when there are young calves with their parents.

"The person was at great risk of being trampled by the cows, which could have resulted in serious or even fatal injuries.

"The field does not have public access and therefore the male was also trespassing.

"PCSO Donnison would like to identify the males so that there is not a repeat of this. Next time they may not be so lucky.

"Irresponsible behaviour like this could cause serious or fatal injury to the cattle if they were scared. They could have run through fences and got out onto the road with potential injury to themselves or other road users."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police quoting incident number 55210066767.
