The A35 between Bridport and Dorchester has been closed.

Police are on the scene near to the Litton Cheney turning closest to Bridport and the road is closed in both directions.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "Officers are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision on the A35 at Litton Cheney in West Dorset.

"The road is currently closed between Monkeys Jump roundabout in Dorchester and the Esso garage roundabout in Bridport.

"We would ask motorists to please seek alternative routes. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

A Dorchester fire crew, along with two crews from Bridport and one from Beaminster, also attended.

A spokesman for Dorchester Fire Station said: "Upon arrival firefighters found one casualty severely trapped inside the van. The vans fuel line had been compromised meaning the fuel was spilling out.

"Crews got to work by stopping the leak, moving the lorry, cutting free and extricating the casualty.

"There were also crews wearing breathing apparatus sets inside the back of the van to check the contents being transported, help upright the heavy containers and stop any leakage from within, to prevent any further hazards occurring.

"A stop message went in after the successful extrication and handover to South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and all appliances were able to leave the scene, apart from Dorchester who stayed until the scene was safely handed over to Dorset Police."

It is very misty, so please take care if out driving today.

More on this as we have it.
