A POUNDBURY cafe is asking for a licence to be able to sell alcohol with lunchtime meals and, at times, in the evening.

The Octagon, which has seating for 38 people inside and 16 outside, was the first café on the Duchy development, situation in the first phase at Pummery Square, close to the Brownsword Hall.

Owner Mark Lovell has asked Dorset Council to consider a Premises Licence which he says in the application is primarily for lunchtime but the business also has plans for opening on two evenings each week with a themed meal, the latest booking at 7.30pm, finishing around 9pm.

Public comments are now being invited on the licence application with any submissions having to be received by September 16th.
