Campaigners call for Dorset Council to be the 'Council for Nature'

By Nub News Reporter 12th May 2024

A CAMPAIGNING organisation is calling on residents in Dorset to attend a gathering in Dorchester next week.

Dorset Action is a campaign group aiming to help tackle climate change and the 'ecological emergency'.

It is planning an event on Thursday, 16 May at County Hall in Dorchester to: "Welcome and congratulate the 82 councillors that will represent our county, our communities, and Dorset creatures for the next four years."

Dorset Action adds: "From our seas to our trees and everything in-between, come in your costumes, in your good-spirits, with your displays of love and respect for nature, for life.

"Bring your songs, your poems, your creative expressions. Bring your family and friends."

The group is calling on people to gather from 5pm outside County Hall (DT1 1XJ)  to meet and greet councillors from 6pm.

It adds: "Use this form to tell us if you / your group are coming, to help us organise the event.
