A countryside ranger for Dorset Council is hoping to raise as much money as possible for charity by walking 100kms with her dog in March.

Kath Clay helps look after Hardy's Birthplace and Thorncombe Wood and has taken on Dementia UK's March Dog Walking Challenge with the help of her dog, Murphy.

She said: "We do a lot of Dementia Friendly events, my colleague in particular leads some very successful Woodland Well-being or Sensory Walks, but obviously at the moment due to Covid restrictions, our events programme has been halted, so I thought this would be a nice way to continue our support.

"Murph comes to work with me every day, so I knew we would soon rack up the miles, just but trudging around the reserve."

Kath has set the target of raising £310.

She added: "Hopefully £10 per day in the month of March should be achievable.

"Murphy's got his own Instagram account, so hopefully I can raise a bit through there."

The March Dog Walking Challenge is Dementia UK's new virtual fundraiser with the money raised going to help Dementia UK be there for families and carers in their time of need.
