Dorchester Poverty Action is encouraging residents who do not need their winter fuel allowance to donate it.
Due to rising fuel costs, the charity expects even more requests for help and can distribute donated winter fuel allowances locally to where it is most needed in the DT1 and DT2 areas to those who are in financial crisis.
A spokesman said: "Requests come from social workers, health visitors etc who know a family or individual's circumstances.
"We are expecting even more applications this winter due to rising fuel costs."
You can donate at dorchesterpovertyaction.org.uk, by sending a cheque c/o United Church Dorchester, 49-51 Charles Street, Dorchester, DT1 1EE or contact [email protected]

Winter Fuel Payments are given to those who were born before September 26, 1955, and get a state pension or another social security benefit. Payments are to help people pay their heating bills and are between £100 and £300.
