Dorchester: 18-year-old arrested after man assaulted for confronting group of young people

An 18-year-old Dorchester man has been arrested and released on bail after a group of young people kicked and stamped on a man.

Dorset Police received a report at 8.22pm on Thursday, March 17 that a group of around 10 young people were smashing bottles and throwing stones at doors in Poundbury's Pummery Square.

A man in his 20s had confronted the group in St John Way and was assaulted. He was allegedly kicked whilst on the ground and stamped on before the group made off from the scene.

The victim went to hospital with face injuries.

Following enquiries by officers, an 18-year-old Dorchester man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has been released on police bail as enquiries continue.
