A Dorchester café is offering veterans free Sunday roast after the Remembrance Sunday parade and service.

The Last Post in South Street is inviting veterans to dine for free on Sunday (November 14), as well as listen to the Decadettes as they perform live.

Owner Glenn Chadwick opened the café/bar earlier this year, which has a military theme.

He says offering veterans a free meal on Remembrance Sunday was something he was always going to do.

"It's just one chance I've got to give back a little bit," he said.

"I can't put into words what Remembrance Day means to an ex-serviceman. It wasn't even an option; it was just something I was going to do.

"My venue is based round my military service and it's just the right thing to do.

"Hopefully they enjoy it."

The Last Post will be open from 10am, with Sunday roast dinners being served from 12noon.

Glenn added: "I'm really looking forward to it.

"There is no limit on numbers - the more the merrier. If they keep coming, we'll find space one way or the other.

"Normally on a Sunday we sell out, and that's 40 to 50 covers, and I'm expecting double that, so it's going to be a busy time for me.

"As long as they come and enjoy what we're doing, that's all that matters."
