Helena Conibear of The Alcohol Education Trust gives drink spiking evidence in House of Commons

The CEO of Dorchester-based Alcohol Education Trust shared some shocking facts about drink spiking with government.

Helena Conibear of The Alcohol Education Trust, which is based at Pavilion in the Park in Poundbury's Great Field, presented evidence to the House of Commons drink spiking evidence review.

She was on a panel of witnesses and provided valuable data and detail about the topic of drink spiking, including information from The Alcohol Education Trust's survey of 750 16 to 25-year-olds on the prevalence of drink spiking, where it is taking place, who is targeted and confidence in reporting incidents.

Helena commented that injecting as a way of spiking was "a new malicious drugging" as drink spiking has existed certainly in the past 12 years the trust has been supporting adults across the UK.

What she thought had changed was the level of reporting incidents to the police, which had increased, but prosecutions still remained very low.
