Dorchester chef just misses out on Masterchef: The Professionals title
Dorchester chef Charlie Jeffreys just missed out on the Masterchef: The Professionals title as the BBC competition came to a close last night.
The final was aired on the BBC on Sunday night, which saw 24-year-old Charlie compete against fellow finalists Sagar Massey and Nikita Pathajki, who was named the winner.
Charlie grew up in Dorset and started working in the hospitality industry as a pot washer at the age of just 13, at the Yarlbury Cottage Hotel in Lower Bockhampton, near Dorchester, before being given an apprenticeship as a chef.
At 18 he moved to London and is now senior chef de partie at the three Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse at top hotel and namesake of his hometown, The Dorchester.
Charlie spoke passionately about Dorset and its local produce throughout the competition, and many of his dishes featured seafood from the Jurassic Coast.
Stunning shots of the local coastline were also shown in last night's final, as Charlie shared more about his life growing up in Dorset.
His final three-course menu presented on last night's final included a starter of poached langoustines with melon and courgette, followed by duck breast with beetroot and peach in a five spice sauce, and a take on a pineapple Eton mess for dessert.
He was praised by Michelin-starred chef and Masterchef judge Marcus Wearing as being "inventive, creative and having beautiful presentation".
Presenter Greg Wallace described him as a "brave and adventurous cook".
Masterchef: The Professional can still be viewed on BBC iPlayer.
