Dorchester Cider Festival is a great success and raises more than £8,000 for local causes

It was great to see Dorchester Borough Gardens bustling again with both residents and visitors enjoying the Dorchester Cider Festival on Saturday.
The Dorchester Round Table event was a resounding success with more than £8,000 being raised for local good causes.
Live music filled the gardens and entertained the crowds, who had the choice of a wide range of ciders from local producers and beyond.
Paul Castle, marketing and PR officer at Dorchester Round Table, said: "Our sixth annual Dorchester Cider Festival was a great success. We're especially pleased to have pulled off another event having had to cancel the festival altogether in 2020.
"A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped out - the event relies on the support of a number of local volunteers and businesses - who all stepped up to ensure the event went ahead as planned.
"We had a mixed bag of good weather throughout the afternoon, which turned to persistent downpours in the evening. However, this did little to dampen the spirits of the festival's attendees and the show went on.
"Many of the regular supporters of the event and local community thanked us for our efforts in volunteering to make this event happen, despite uncertain times for outdoor events and festivals.
"From our initial figures we can see that we've managed to raise a profit of over £8,000. All profits from the event are distributed to local causes and charities in the DT1 area."
Dorchester Round Table encourages donation requests through its website - dorchesterroundtable.co.uk - as well as nominating charities.
Paul added: "We'd like to thank everyone for respecting the park and taking care not to leave much litter behind. As a result, this made the clean-up a swift process this year.
"We're very fortunate to have Borough Gardens as a venue, under kind permission from Dorchester Town Council. Thanks also to our sponsors Battens Solicitors and Weymouth Cider Company.
"We look forward to seeing everyone again next year for the seventh Dorchester Cider Festival."
