Crime figures for the Dorchester area in 2022 have been revealed

The wider Dorchester area saw a total of 2,567 crimes reported in 2022, according to the police.uk website.

This was a slight decrease on the previous year, which saw 2,792 incidents reported. The peak of crime was in July 2022, which saw 258 incidents reported.

Monthly crime figures for 2022 were as follows:

  • December - 155
  • November - 170
  • October - 210
  • September - 255
  • August - 214
  • July - 258
  • June - 207
  • May - 214
  • April - 218
  • March - 234
  • February - 210
  • January - 222

In the wider Dorchester policing area, there were 155 reported crimes in December 2022 – the latest month figures are available for on police.uk

This area covers from Abbotsbury in the west, to Owermoigne in the east, not including Weymouth, and as far north as Rampisham in the west, and Aller, near Milton Abbas, in the east. 

The figure for December 2022 compares to 170 crimes reported the previous month (November 2022), and is a significant decrease from 244 reported in the same month the previous year (December 2021).

In the immediate Dorchester area, there were 138 crimes reported in December 2022.

These included 59 listed as violence and sexual offences, 35 incidents of anti-social behaviour, 17 of criminal damage and arson, and 44 listed as 'other crime'. 

This compares to 151 crimes reported in the immediate Dorchester area in November 2022, and 213 in December 2021.
