From Monday, Dorset Council will be rolling out new, increased car park charges in its car parks.

Blandford car parks will be the first to change on March 29, with others to follow shortly afterwards.

Dorchester car parks - Acland Road, Colliton Park, Durngate Street, Fairfield, Old Market, Top O Town, Trinity Street and Wollaston Field - will see the changes come in from April 5.

The new charges are 50p for 30 minutes, £1 for one hour, £1.50 for two hours, £2.20 for three hours £3.50 for four hours and £6 for 10 hours.

Two new car parking permits have also replaced the 76 old district/borough permits. The short stay car park permit provides parking for two hours each day and costs £78 for 12 months and the flexi stay car park permit provides unlimited parking in long stay car parks and free parking for two hours in short stay car parks. It costs £25 a month or £260 for 12 months.
