A beautiful tribute to those who lost their lives or have been affected by war adorns a Dorchester museum.

A poppy cascade has been created and installed on the Keep Military Museum to mark Remembrance Day on November 11.

A spokesman said: "We created the poppy project to engage local school children in Devon and Dorset with our Remembrance plans, as this year the launch of the British Legion Poppy Appeal in Dorset was at the Keep.

"Sixteen schools opted to participate and we sent each school a pack with resources about remembrance and red felt for them to make poppies and send back to us.

"We also held a stall in the museum during half term for visitors to make poppies that would be included in the final cascade."

It took a team three days to individually attach each poppy to the net, which was then installed on the morning of the poppy launch.

It will be up until November 15 and every evening it will be floodlit in red from around 5pm to 9pm.

The spokesman added: "We also have a memorial garden on the grassy area to the side of the museum where members of the public are welcome to lay their own memorials to loved ones or people they've lost to conflict. This will also be open until November 15."
