Participants and volunteers at Dorset Mind's The GAP Project have been busy in the Dorchester allotments.

The team has been working to feed and water the allotments and lots of vegetables have grown - which is also helping another cause in the town.

A spokesman for Dorset Mind said: "The exciting thing is, we've been able to send vegetable boxes to the Dorchester Food Bank. Our mental health community is helping the wider community whilst enjoying the benefits of being outside."

The GAP Project provides practical support by our trained staff and volunteers to those with mental health problems, supporting them to build confidence, self-esteem and resilience whilst connecting with nature and other people.

Dorset Mind created the group in partnership with Meyers Estate Agents. It was the idea of founders Mark and Claire Meyers as a result of experience in their family and they wanted to create a community project that would inspire people and bring them together to benefit the local area.

The GAP Project has three allotment plots that participants can tend by sowing seeds and plating fruit and vegetables, digging, weeding and pruning, creating wildlife habitats, upcycling and planning new spaces.
