A Dorchester business is 'the best in its market' and has been named pet care specialists of the year.

Joey's Doggie Day Care, run by Sara and Tom Buxton and set on Dewflock Farm, won the South England Prestige Award after the couple dedicated themselves to building their happy place for dogs.

Tom said: "From the very beginning, our goal has always been to create somewhere special for the pups of Dorchester to make new friends explore and have a day dedicated to them.

"Little did we know that Covid would hit so soon after we first opened so we really had to hang on to our dream with both hands and find a way to keep Joey's going before we'd barely begun.

"Starting a new business is hard at the best of times but to see how excited and happy the pups are and how much they enjoy being together, that's what makes all the hard work worthwhile.

"On top of that, to now be recognised with such a prestigious award for all the things that we feel make Joey's such a special and unique place is fantastic."

The Prestige Awards recognise small and medium-sized businesses across the UK that have proven to be the best in their market over the past 12 months.

Sara added: "We couldn't be more excited to have won such an amazing award. We didn't quite believe it when they called to give us the good news."
