The popular Dorset Arts Festival is returning to Sculpture by the Lakes this month, bringing more than 60 artists and makers together to showcase their skills live.

The five-day Dorset Arts Festival, now in its third year, takes place from June 29 to July 3. Visitors will be able to experience some of the finest creative talents in the county working live from mini-studios set up across the grounds of the 26-acre sculpture park and gardens at Pallington, near Dorchester.

From artists covering canvasses in colour, to potters at the wheel, to the delicate silversmithing of jewellery makers, these individuals will bring their creations to life before your eyes.

Simon Gudgeon, acclaimed sculptor and founder of Sculpture by the Lakes and the Dorset Arts Festival, said: "Being able to see and purchase the work of such a varied array of artists and craftsmen in one place is unusual in itself, but we wanted to go even further and bring their processes to life, allowing visitors to understand the skill, craft, and creativity that goes into each unique piece.

"Seeing wood turned, metal shaped, or clay worked is quite magical, and that has always been the unique appeal of the festival.

"It gives visitors a view into the otherwise private world of the artist's studio and an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the creative process. The pieces they then take home are even more treasured."

The exhibitors will be at work amid the gardens and sculptures, which include more than 30 pieces by Simon Gudgeon along with the work of more than 30 sculptors represented by Gallery by the Lakes.

As well as feasting their eyes, festival-goers will be able to stop into Café by the Lakes for lunch and cakes. Picnic food from local producers and the sculpture park's own kitchen gardens will be available in The Artisans' Pantry. While the new Fire and Food kitchen will also be offering delights cooked over open flames, which can be enjoyed at the riverside arena.

Simon added: "We hope to see many people joining us once again for the Dorset Arts Festival 2022. Visitors often choose to spend the whole day here to appreciate everything on offer, taking time to watch demonstrations and soak up the tranquillity and beauty as they tour the park. It's a wonderful event."

The Dorset Arts Festival runs from June 29 to July 3 from 10am to 5pm. with numbers capped each day tickets must be booked in advance. Entry is £14.50.
