Dorset is set to receive almost £3million in government funding to fix potholes across the county.

The announcement of the £2.9million funding was made as part of Chancellor Jeremy Hunt's budget on March 15 and has been welcomed by West Dorset MP Chris Loder.

Mr Loder said: "This is a generous boost to Dorset's road infrastructure. I have been campaigning since my election for a greater focus on our road networks and the funding to ensure our trunk roads like the A35 and A37 are as safe and efficient as possible."

The Department for Transport says it is committed to allocating this funding to local highways authorities so they can most effectively spend this funding on maintaining and improving their respective network, based upon their local knowledge, circumstances and priorities.

If you know of any potholes in your area that need repair, you can report them to Mr Loder at www.chrisloder.co.uk/potholes or via Dorset Council at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/roads-highways-maintenance/report-a-problem-on-the-road-or-pavement
