Huge crowds gathered in Borough Gardens in Dorchester on Saturday, for another successful cider festival organised by Dorchester Roundtable.

First launched in 2015, the popular festival is now in its eighth year, having raised more than £30,000 for local good causes.

More than 80 ciders - from traditional scrumpy to fruity flavours – were on offer in the 'cider village', while the best crop of local musicians kept the crowds entertained on the bandstand.

Paul Castle of Dorchester Roundtable said: "Once again, this year's festival was an outstanding success. While it's still a bit too early to tally up the profits, we're confident it's another record year as the event continues to grow in popularity.

"The cider gods were in our favour again, with great weather adding to the incredible atmosphere and joyful spirits.

"We'd like to thank all volunteers as well as the support of local businesses – without these contributions, the festival wouldn't be possible.

"We're especially proud to be supporting YFW Blood Bikes as one of our primary charities this year. Their vital voluntary service plays a crucial role in our community, and we're honoured to contribute to their cause.

"Dorchester Cider Festival has become one of the standout highlights of the year in the town – a grand garden party that brings the cider community together."
