Halifax on South Street Dorchester is set to close next month as customers find other ways to bank.

Halifax says that customers are now choosing to do their everyday banking online.

However, this has left locals concerned following the closures of Santander and TSB in recent times. The nearest alternative will be in Weymouth, you can also use the Post Office on Trinity Street to pay in cash and cheques, check your balance, and withdraw money.

A Halifax spokesperson said: "We're responding to the way our customers use our branches. We'll continue to invest in our branch network, but we have to make sure our branches are where customers need and use them most.

"As a result, we've made the difficult decision to close this branch because customers are using it less often. In addition, the majority of customers are also using alternative ways to bank."

The branch will close on Tuesday 22nd November.
