Owners and residents of Dorset's park home sites are being asked to give their views on a draft policy for how Dorset Council sets park home license fees, which could see some increase.

A new policy is needed to standardise how park home license fees are calculated across Dorset. It will replace the policies of the county's former district and borough councils which each determined their fees differently.

This affects Oaklands Park in Crossways and Swanbridge Mobile Home Park, Hardy Country Park and Railway Triangle Park Homes in Dorchester.

The draft policy proposes that sites should be grouped into bands according to the number of homes on each site. Band 1 is up to 10 homes, Band 2 is 11 to 35 homes, Band 3 is 36 to 70 homes, Band 4 is 71 to 105 homes and Band five is more than 105 homes.

The introduction of a single policy across Dorset will mean that some sites will be subject to an increased license fee, while others will benefit from a reduced fee.

Swanbridge, Railway Triangle and Hardy Country Park would be in Band 2 and could see their license fee increase by £54.14 from £140 to £194.14. Oaklands Park would be in Band 4 and the license fee could increase by £122.43 from £210 to £332.43.

Councillor Jill Haynes, portfolio holder for customer services and communities, said: "We need to standardise our approach to park home license fees and are proposing a system which puts sites into different bands depending on the number of homes they have.

"This means some sites will be subject to an increased annual license fee while others will have a reduction.

"We believe any proposed increases are modest and should not result in significant costs being passed onto residents, but that's why we are consulting on the policy - it's important we understand how all parties might be affected.

"If you own a site, or live in a park home, please take the time to give us your feedback."

The consultation is open until March 21 and can be found here
