FIREFIGHTERS have been involved in removing hazardous material from a Dorchester dwelling.

All three major emergency services attended an incident today (Thursday, 2 January) on Whitfield Road after an alarm was raised around 2pm.

Police, firefighters and ambulance officers attended and the area was cordoned off.

The fire service confirmed that 'hazardous material' was removed from the affected property, believed to be a flat on the road.

A statement from the fire service said: "We were called at 2.03pm today to Whitfield Road to assist the ambulance service. Two crews from Dorchester attended.

"We left the scene at 3.53pm after removing a hazardous material contained within the affected property."
