Dorset Mind is reminding people that help is available for people in Dorchester who may be feeling isolated, anxious or down.

Sessions are being run twice a week at the charity's community garden ecotherapy project.

Dorset Mind, in partnership with Meyers Estate Agents, has created The GAP Project, a way for local people to improve their wellbeing through tending allotments.

The aim of the service is to improve mental wellbeing through eco-therapy and to build and strengthen self-esteem, confidence and resilience in a peer-support environment.

Anyone with mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing challenges can access the service, which offers opportunities to sow seeds, plant fruit and vegetables, dig, weed and prune, plan new spaces, upcycle pallets into furniture and create wildlife habitats.

A spokesman for Dorset Mind said: "If you live close to Dorchester and have been feeling isolated, lonely, anxious or down, we offer coffee breaks and lunchtime gardening sessions on Mondays and Thursdays to help support your mental wellbeing."
