Latest Dorchester planning applications

Local News by Trevor Bevins - Local Democracy Reporter 2 hours ago

NEW planning applications submitted across Dorchester this week, cover everything from updated shopfront signage to household extensions and certificates of lawfulness for residential changes.

At Vodafone, 8 Cornhill, Dorchester (P/ADV/2026/02481), proposals have been lodged for the replacement of the projecting advertising signa. The application confirms no change in size or illumination, with each face of the existing sign to be updated to reflect the company's latest branding, using the current fixings already in place.

A shift in residential use is the focus of P/CLP/2026/02626, relating to 51 Bridport Road, Dorchester DT1 2NG. The applicant seeks a Certificate of Lawfulness to confirm the property change from a standard dwelling (Use Class C3) to a house in multiple occupation (Use Class C4).

Another lawful certificate request, P/CLP/2026/02599, concerns 2 Holly Close, Dorchester DT1 2PZ, where the proposal outlines the stationing of a mobile home 'granny annexe'. The structure would be used incidentally to the main dwelling, and the application seeks confirmation that this use is lawful.

Several household extension projects have also been submitted. At 16 Sydenham Way, Dorchester DT1 1DN (P/HOU/2026/02600), plans detail a single‑storey side extension. Meanwhile, 57 South Court Avenue, Dorchester DT1 2DA (P/HOU/2026/02409) has put forward proposals for a single‑storey side and rear extension, incorporating an integrated garage and roof lights.

P/HOU/2026/02339 relates to 1 Arnhem Green, Dorchester DT1 2PS, where the applicant seeks permission to erect a front porch, along with new garden steps and a low wall.
