There's now less than a week to enter the Dorchester and Poundbury Business Awards.

The awards organisers believe it's time to get business moving again and start focusing on positives and the awards are a celebration of local businesses.

They are free to enter and businesses can enter as many categories as they like by 2pm on Monday, April 12.

The categories are:

  • Employer of the year
  • Most innovative business
  • SME business of the year
  • Best community support (seen to be supporting other businesses or people during the recent issues)
  • Best customer/client service
  • Arts, crafts and artisans
  • Mental wellbeing and awareness
  • Best use of digital
  • Green business of the year
  • New business of the year
  • Health, beauty and fitness
  • Independent business of the year
  • Retail business of the year
  • Service provider of the year
  • Café/pub/hospitality
  • Local business leader
  • Rising star (16 to 25-year-old starting out in business or working within a business)
  • Overall winner

The awards were officially launched and broadcast online from Dorchester's Keep Museum on December 16 and the awards will be held between 12noon and 2.15pm on Thursday, June 24 at Minterne House. The awards will also be broadcast online.
