A performer is bringing the magic to Zoom in a bid to help raise £52,000 for a teenager with scoliosis to have surgery.

Magician Chris Howat, from Cerne Abbas, Dorchester, will be part of a live show with others on April 16, with all proceeds going to the GoFundMe page for Lacie Carter, a 14-year-old girl from Bournemouth who was diagnosed with Scoliosis.

Lacie has two large curves in her spine which have impacted her life, physically and emotionally.

Before the diagnosis she was an enthusiastic dancer and was winning dance competitions, but without an operation to straighten her spine, dancing will not be possible. Lacie is also suffering with anxiety and low self-esteem due to the physical changes in her body caused by this progressive condition.

Chris was asked by Lacie's family if he could support the cause which needs to raise £52,000 for surgery to straighten Lacie's spinal cord. She needs to travel to Turkey at the end of this month for a ground breaking operation that isn't currently available on the NHS. The treatments that are available in the UK are restricted and because of Lacie's age and ongoing growth she would need further operations when she is older.

Chris said: "I have no expectations, anything's good. If we sell six tickets that's amazing, if we sell more, that's great. It's a really good cause and Zoom magic is fun."

The event will bring you some of the country's best up and coming magicians and among the line-up is Ryan Roworth and Oisìn Foley with more to be announced in the week.

Each performer will air for around 10-15 minutes and as this is a live show, Chris says viewers can expect good audience interaction as if it were in person.

Mitchell Carter, Lacie's Father said: "Chris has supported Lacie since we started fundraising for her in November 2020 and we are so grateful for his help. We, as a family, will never forget this. We have currently raised an amazing £42,500. We have around 16 days to go so we are thankful for the help."

More announcements will be made leading up to the event. Find out more by visiting www.CHMagic.co.uk.

Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite here.
