A local duo who run a popular mobile bar business have taken the option to buy a premises in Dorchester.
The Cheeky Tipple based in Weymouth is run by Josh Jenkins and Sam Rodrigues who have decided to expand their operation by moving into Vinny at Six in Dorchester, North Square.
Following a short trial period, they have decided to purchase the venue.
The Cheeky Tipple team specialise in cocktails and gins, with a selection of prosecco, wine, and draft to choose from. There are also plans to serve tapas and small plates alongside live music.
The pair both have experience of cocktail bars. Josh worked at a 5* hotel in Plymouth whilst at university before working at The Nook, a busy cocktail club in Weymouth. Sam has many years of bartending under his belt, he is also formerly of The Nook, and has a degree in Economics. Their vision is to open a series of bars along the coast potentially in Brighton, Bournemouth, as well as Dorchester, with a close eye on branching into Cornwall, including Torquay, Newquay.
"We basically want to be by the sea," Josh told Nub News.
Josh continued: "The idea is to have a proper venue, the pop-up at Bowleaze Cove, and the caravan doing events.
"We are trying to bring something we feel Dorchester is missing. We think The Cheeky Tipple will fit in Dorchester, the cocktails are great.
"It is going really well at the moment. The bar has been busy almost every night. We do plan on having live music to boost things on the weekend. We are also aiming to open during the day for coffee and cake to reach out to a different clientele.
"We will be starting a big refurbishment at the end of September before opening again in time for the winter holidays and Christmas parties."
The bar is open now from Thursday to Saturday 6pm-12am and Sunday 12am-5pm.
