A series of graffiti attacks have defaced walls in Bowling Alley Walk, Dorchester, in recent weeks leading to town mayor Richard Biggs asking parents to keep an eye on what their children are up to.

He says he is also concerned about the amount of litter being left around the town where young people congregate.

One of these is on the riverside footpath off Gray's Bridge.

Cllr Biggs says a local woman picks up the litter almost every day just to keep the area looking tidy with her most recent litter pick collecting two bags full.

The mayor says that while he is grateful for her public spirit it is something which ought to not need doing and could easily be avoided by people taking litter home with them.

In the case of the graffiti on the walls there is a cost to the public purse because the daubing has to be professionally removed at a cost to all local council taxpayers.
