More than 700 Dorchester pupils were responsible for spreading cheer in care homes over the festive period.
During a rather different Christmas, 720 pupils at St Osmund's Middle School wrote a message on a heart to let those who may have been unable to see family over the festive season to know that they were thinking of them.
Karis Clifton, activities co-ordinator at Montrose Care Home in Dorchester, spoke of the joy that the messages had brought residents.
"The residents absolutely loved reading what the students wrote for them and we turned them into bunting styled decorations to go on our bookcase in our dining room," she said.
Saira Sawtell, headteacher at St Osmund's, said that the "inter-generational joy" was wonderful to see.
It is inspiring to see the younger generation looking out for the older one and bringing them comfort and happiness.
