Stinsford's Neighbourhood Plan has been approved by Dorset Council after undergoing an examination by an inspector and a vote for its adoption in a public referendum.

On a 47.5 per cent turnout 113 voted for the plan and 11 against.

"With such support we are naturally very pleased," said one of the group which steered the plan through to completion, Michael Clarke.

"The lead of the group that undertook this task was Sally Cooke and we had the support of a professional Jo Witherdon."

The plan, which shapes the type of development the parish would like to see until 2038, is the 34th Neighbourhood Plan in the county, with 25 others underway.

Tributes were paid at this week's Dorset Council Cabinet meeting to the Stinsford residents, all volunteers, who carried out the process, starting back in 2017.
