A FORMER car dealership in Dorchester could be turned into a new base for vehicle rentals and a tyre business.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car Uk, want to use most of the former BMW garage on Prince of Wales Road for a new base in the county town. It would mean moving from its existing site on the Marabout Industrial Estate, Dorchester.
If granted planning consent the new site would include room for 21 car parking spaces, 3 for vans, 7 overflow bays and a new wash bay and offices.
Part of the site is proposed to be used by a tyre fitting business, Tyreworld, which is currently based at the Railway Triangle Estate in the county town.
The car rental company say they will share the site with the tyre company, constructing its own wash bay for rental cars to the rear of the plot.
Planning application details can be found on the Dorset Council website, which also offers the ability to comment on the proposals –
88 Prince of Wales Road, change of use of a former vehicle dealership into a rental vehicle premises. The application includes provision for parking, a wash bay, and associated works under reference P/FUL/2025/06335. A related application (P/ADV/2025/06336) seeks permission to display new signage at the site, including an internally illuminated fascia sign, backwall sign, post sign, and window and door decals.
