Looking for Dorchester's accident and emergency hospital unit?

This sign, which also points the way to the maternity unit and children's centre might not help – being almost completely covered in vegetation.

Dorchester councillor Les Fry has called Dorset Council to tell them about the problem with the sign, close to the Damers Road rail bridge.

He has also pointed out other overgrown signs, along with a number of roadside sites which now have tall weeds after recent rainfall prompted growth.

Cllr Fry says that while locals will almost certainly know how to get to the hospital units without the need for road signs, at this time of year, in particular, there are many visitors who might find being able to see it useful, especially in an emergency.

"It does look bad in the town to have overgrown vegetation restricting the view of the signs such as this one," he said.

"There is also tall vegetation on the street and roadside which makes the town look unloved and unkempt."
