A theatre performance with a difference will be making a splash in Dorchester next week.
Dorchester Arts is used to some unusual tour requirements from many theatre companies that perform at Dorchester's Corn Exchange. But An Tobar and Mull Theatre Company's requests are strange to say the least - they include a 50m hose reel, two 35 litre hot water urns, some universal tap adaptors and access to a drain.
In The Weeds tells the story of Japanese marine biologist Kazumi, on a quest to find the sea creature behind a family tragedy. On a remote Hebridean island, he meets Coblaith, a local woman with a strange obsession with water. Although Cob insists that monsters are not real, Kazumi can't help but be swept away with suspicion until he almost becomes the monster himself.
The play is partly performed in a pool of 450L of water, which provides a unique challenge for the Corn Exchange.
Mark Tattersall, artistic director of Dorchester Arts, said: "We like to push boundaries, and In The Weeds is performed in and out of - hopefully warm - water. We are delighted to welcome An Tobar and Mull Theatre to Dorset for this special play by award-winning playwright Joseph Wilde, a gothic thriller about who gets to claim ownership of the land we all live on."
The play takes place on Wednesday, June 15 and tickets are available here.
