Officers investigating an attempted burglary in Dorchester are asking for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The incident, in which people in a property in the Lubbecke Way area saw a man trying to reach through a partially open window, happened at around 7.45pm on Sunday, June 13.

When one of the people screamed, the man ran away toward the Dorchester Recycling Centre.

The offender has been described as white with a heavy tan, aged in his 40s, around six feet two inches tall and of muscular build. He has short dark hair and was wearing a plain white T-shirt.

Police Constable Nathan Boissé, of Dorchester police, said: "Nothing was taken from the property, but the occupants were understandably distressed by this attempted burglary.

"I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or a man matching the description given to please come forward.

"Also, it was reported that at the time of the incident a 125cc style motorbike was heard leaving the area toward Kings Road. I would urge the rider to come forward as they may have seen something that might be of interest to my investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting incident number 55210094234. Alternatively, to stay 100 per cent anonymous, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or call freephone 0800 555 111.
