INVESTIGATION police officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward after a dangerous driving incident near Dorchester earlier this week.

At around 11.20am on Wednesday, 14 August a heavy goods vehicle collided with a barrier at the railway crossing on Moreton Road in Woodsford.

The vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

Police Constable Kier Dagnall, of the Roads Policing Team, said: "This incident caused the barrier to snap off, meaning the road was closed for a number of hours and trains were impacted.

"I am appealing to anyone who was travelling in the area and saw what happened or has relevant dashcam footage to please get in touch.

"I would also like to speak to the driver of the lorry so I can take their account of what happened."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240108474.

Alternatively, if you would like to make an anonymous report, you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on Twitter at @CrimestoppersUK, by visiting their website or by calling 0800 555 111.
