A statement from Dorset Police said: "Officers searching for missing man Simon Cooper in West Dorset are pleased to say he has been found.

"We would like to thank colleagues Dorset Search and Rescue for assisting, and to those members of the public who contacted us following our appeal."

Officers are appealing for information as they search for a missing man in West Dorset.

Simon Cooper, aged 49, was reported as missing having left an address in the Askerswell area on foot at around 10:30am today (2nd).

He is described as around six feet five inches tall and of medium to large build with short grey thinning hair and a tattoo on the back of his head. He was wearing a green hooded jacket, blue jeans and green trainers.

Inspector Gareth Bishop, of Dorset Police, said: "We understand Simon has been upset recently and we are concerned for his welfare.

"We are carrying out searches, with assistance from Dorset Search and Rescue (DorSAR), and I would urge anyone with information regarding Simon's whereabouts to please contact us.

"I would also like to appeal directly to Simon if you see this – please make contact with us or your family and let us know where you are, so that we can make sure you are all right."
